Beautiful Minds strives to provide specialized services to help children with autism and their families so they can reach their maximum potential. Your child will work with a team of therapists that employ a combination of ABA techniques to further facilitate growth and learning. Qualified supervisors at Beautiful Minds closely monitor each child’s progress and make changes to treatment programs as needed. The following is a brief overview of some of the services we provide:

IN-HOME BEHAVIORAL INTERVENTION

At Beautiful Minds, we focus on implementing behavioral interventions for children, adolescents and young adults between the ages of 2 and 18. Treatment programs are formulated on an individual basis and are tailored to each child’s specific needs through in-depth assessments, evaluations, interviews and observations. Each program will focus on developing a variety of skills, including:

The therapy consists of one-to-one ABA sessions that take place in the home, school and community settings. Registered behavior technicians (RBT’s) work one-to-one with patients under the supervision of Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), combining the principles of ABA with up-to-date therapeutic practices to maximize progress. Sessions consist of programs that focus on replacing challenging behaviors and skill deficits with functional and adaptive skills. To maximize learning and growth by generalizing change in the child’s life, behavioral interventions are provided in the home, school and community.

IN-DEPTH BEHAVIORAL
ASSESSMENT

Using a variety of assessment methods, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) will design a comprehensive and individualized treatment plan that creates both short-term and long-term goals for lasting behavioral change. The assessment process consists of:

  • Interviews with family members and caretakers
  • Behavioral observations & interactions
  • Standardized measures to determine the child’s strengths, areas of need, challenging behaviors and skill deficits
  • Functional Behavioral Analysis

Once the assessment is completed, a team of qualified behavior technicians will implement the treatment plan under the supervision of a BCBA supervisor. All family members and caregivers are encouraged to participate in therapy sessions, team meetings and caregiver training sessions to ensure consistency and treatment efficacy.

QUALIFIED SUPERVISION

Beautiful Minds is dedicated to abide by the supervision standards outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board and provides supervision based on these standards. In order to ensure that each child and family is receiving the highest standards of care, all services provided by behavior technicians are under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analysts or a licensed mental health professional. A program supervisor conducts assessments, develops treatment plans, oversees the program, monitors progress, addresses new behaviors that may arise and summarizes data in quarterly progress reports.

Our supervisors work closely with the behaviorists, families, teachers, and school staff and to ensure constant support and guidance in treatment development and maintenance. They collaborate with teachers and other service providers to make sure that each child is receiving the best quality and consistent treatment.

SCHOOL
SERVICES

In addition to in-home therapy, Beautiful Minds also provides in-school behavior support services for children and adolescents who have an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and/or require specialized adult assistance to manage their behaviors and access the curriculum in the least restrictive environment. Beautiful Minds is a Non-Public Agency (NPA) and has been certified with the Department of Education since 2003. Our behavior technicians are trained in ABA and positive behavioral management to attend school with children and adolescents who struggle with attention, regulation, impulsivity, transitions and socialization.

Our behavior technicians and supervisors coordinate care and work closely with school staff in order to achieve behavioral goals and help each child to become independent in the school environment. Both supervisors and behavior technicians are active participants in the IEP process and serve an integral role in the child’s success at school.

COMMUNITY-BASED
SERVICES

Generalization of skills across settings, people and stimuli is one of the fundamental attributes to lasting change in ABA. At Beautiful Minds, our team of therapists and supervisors will go beyond the home setting to a variety of places, such as the park, grocery store, museums, schools, etc. to ensure maintenance and generalization of newly acquired skills.

PARENT
TRAINING

Parental involvement in the behavioral program is vital to its success and lasting effects. Beautiful Minds provides individualized parent training for the parents, guardians, and authorized caregivers of the clients its serves. Parent training focuses on educating parents about their child’s diagnosis and on empowering them to learn the behavioral interventions in their child’s treatment plan for the purpose of implementing them outside of behavioral therapy sessions. Parents are taught how to:

  • Identify the functions of target behaviors
  • How to implement antecedent-based, consequence-based and teaching strategies
  • How to create a routine in their home to provide their child with stability structure
  • Positive behavioral strategies and effective reinforcement
  • Manage and monitor their own behavior and reactions to their children in order to be more effective in providing behavioral support and maintenance

Supervisors and behavior technicians demonstrate the interventions and provide feedback to parents, work with parents through their resistance, and motivate them to follow through with behavioral interventions consistently.

TELEHEALTH
SERVICES

Beautiful Minds also offers remote Telehealth ABA when in-person services are not possible. All telehealth services are provided in real-time through a HIPAA compliant platform.

SAFETY

At Beautiful Minds, our top priority is providing our families and staff with the safest and most effective care. We have enhanced our policies and procedures regarding the delivery of our ABA services by following recommendations from the federal Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), local authorities and clinical experts on how to limit the spread of COVID-19.
